Question

Our Thoughts

1. What are the details about watching the fireworks from a boat on the river?

All events / activities are subject to, obviously the weather and everything working.

Mark & Rosanna have a 24 foot pontoon boat that we're sure Jason will be more than happy to captain for those who are adventuresome.

For those who want even more adventure ask Mark & Rosanna about watching the fireworks from kayaks in the river.  You will get two very different stories.

2. Why so much free time / lack of structure?

Great question!  There will be a few Boersma's there and you know those Boersma's.  They hate structure as it cuts into their fun, so they have kind of forced their free spirited, fun loving, go with the flow energy on everyone.

3. What if I want everything planned out and structured?

Wow ... another amazing question!  Makaya Miller is like this as she loves structure and everything to put in it's place.  It's a reunion for you and your family so you decide as much structure as you want to have.

4. If it's a "Family Reunion" why is everyone invited?

Jason Miller, Makaya's dad was raised Amish and he's got an amazing wife who feels that if there are not at least 750 people who attend that husband will be sad and she's work very hard, as any good wife would to make her husband happy.

Oh ... there was another family reunion where an anonymous person said ... Who said ... "What?  I love having more people attend.  the more people who attend, the less time I have to spend with those I don't like."   :-)

We're sure that this person was joking of course.    :-)   Obviously everyone in all our families get along so we're sure that there won't be any issues with conflict or unresolved hurt.

5. Speaking of "Hurt" ... any suggestions on how to heal from hurt?

Yea ... this is a tough question ... right?  Someone once said ... Who said ... "I think you have been hurt at a heart level."  It see1ms, that within families there often is a lot of unresolved hurt and that often leads to generational pain.

One of the games we will play is to match the quotes with a person.  You don't have to be present to play or win.  :-)

Who said ... "I don't think they know they are hurting one another?"

Here is a most interesting "White Paper" on "Healing At A Heart Level."

6. Will their be any intense conversations?

Hmmm ... with Rosanna, the Miller's, the Collins' and the Maven's there ... most likely there will be intense conversations ... BUT ... not to worry as Mark and many other Boersma's will be there to lighten things up.

At Mark and Rosanna's home you may see bald and golden eagles, especially if you come out to the river patio for breakfast and a sunrise.  Mark has seen bald eagles and golden eagle's fight in midair.  A bald eagle has a wingspan of 8 feet and when diving can reach speeds of over 250 miles an hour.

Some people seem to love intense and deep conversations and others do not.  It's your vacation, so you get to decide who you would like to hang out with.  :-)  Especially on Mark and Rosanna's property, there are different zones, where different groups of people can connect.  If a conversation gets a bit too intense then you are free to move to another zone / group of people.  :-)

7. Speaking of intense, how do we handle Jonathan's death?

A very caring question for sure.  The Mark Boersma family is appreciative of your consideration.   Each of the six siblings, Rosanna and Mark have been hurt in a way ... that is impossible put into words.

The Rosanna Boersma family is a strange family for sure.  There sense of humor is a bit off and triggers can send anyone of them into tears ... or silence.

You are totally free to ask anyone any question or you don't have to bring it up, it's alright either way.  :-)

Who said ... "I'm not worried about you hurting my family, I'm worried about my family hurting your family."

Who said ... "Grandpa, can I see the picture?"  and then pointed and said "Jonathan's dead ... and it's OK."

Jonathan's Song

Jonathan wrote this song 6 years before he died.  The woman he wrote it for looked for an artist to sing it.  It took her 6 years to find someone and a few weeks before he died, she found an artist to sing it.

Jonathan died a few days before the artist sung his song for the very first time.

Yes, at the time of the family reunion it will be just past 2 years since his death.
Who said ... An Why did they say ... "I wonder if year two will be harder than the first year?"
We often miss, some of the most precious moments ... out of fear or what we think is consideration.  It's alright to talk about it.
Who said ...
"What I miss most is he would call me on his way home from work every day, and tell me about it!"
WARNING:  If you view Jonathan's memorial site, there may be some hard things to handle, to process.  The first few pages are cool, will touch your heart, but the deeper you go the harder it may be.

Who said ...
"When your life vision is bigger than death ... you get over stuff!"

8. Why do I have to wear a helmet when I ride the go kart?

OK ... someone's just trying to poke at some reckless old guy, who really isn't that old, with this question.  That's just wrong!

This go kart is NOT for young kids and maybe not for adults.  Mark Boersma, who is known for his cautiousness flipped the go kart three times and broke his face.  Yep ... not to give him any attention but true story.  How many of you men are man enough to break your face?  Just saying.

What women would do this to the economic engine?  Right?!?!   I mean one of the grandkids come in with the smallest scratch and wow ... everyone gives that child attention and a special band aid?   The Boersma's are known for their sense of strong and fair justice so this wrong, I'm sure GREAT WRONG will be righted ... and there will be peace in the land.

What Two Woman Did This ... "When Mark walked in and his whole face and body was bloody and broken ... and there where two women who just brushed him off and told him to go wash up?  He could have died!"

9. This sounds like so much FUN, I can't believe I am not able to to make it!   Is there any way I can participate without attending in person?

Of course you can.  If you would like to participate in any activity but aren't able to attend the live session, let us know and we'll work to see if technology will allow us to Zoom / video stream you in.  :-)

We're serious actually, so let us know.  You can also participate in sharing memories from any family reunion you have ever attended.

We want to feel your presence, your heart, mind and soul here even if you aren't able to attend in person.

Who Said ... "We will have an amazing time with all those who decide to come."

Jason & Melissa Miller will be doing some fun things around their home which is in the heart of Amish Country and right down the street from Amish shopping, Buggy rides, events, shows and a lot more.

GingerAnne will have a farm in which you can see chickens, maybe a goat and some other animals.  She is just 9 minutes from Mark and Rosanna's home.

Mark & Rosanna Boersma have been blessed with a home on 4 acres, right on the river, with a pond and lots of fun things for the entire family and friends.  Mark & Rosanna are 9 minutes from GingerAnne's home and 25 minutes from Jason and Melissa's.

Mark & Rosanna's property is open to kayaking, hanging out by the river, relaxing in the hot tub, reading by the pond, walking in the woods, playing volleyball /other sports, riding a go-cart (with a helmet) :-), watching a movie on their huge outdoor screen.   Having breakfast over the river and the most amazing sun rises, having a cookout in the afternoon and/or roasting marshmallows and sharing moments while creating memories which will last a lifetime.  You, your family and any of your guests are invited to come over anytime and hang out.

Mark & Rosanna and their family, grandchildren may be there or they may be at one of the parks, or out on a pontoon boat ride, kayaking / canoeing or who knows where ... which is fine as you are free to enjoy things as you are able to participate.

We can enjoy things together or individually.

There is a spreadsheet, naturally with Rosanna's desire to have things organized :-) where you will be able to see some possible events where you a free to join.  The week is purposely kept open to where you are free to plan your time with those you would like to hang out with.  The most important thing for everyone is to ... Have FUN, Create Memories ... and be reminded how precious life is.

There is no obligation to join anything or participate in anything.  You are free to participate in whatever you would like to participate in and join for a few hours, a day or two or the entire week.  It is YOUR choice!

For additional information, details, email Rosanna at MakingAdifferenceInLife7@gmail.com  or call / text Rosanna at 630-649-4059

Rosanna can get your the spreadsheet which will keep you updated on the plans.

There are many reasonably price accommodations.  There are RV Parks, camp grounds, Airbnb, Bed & Breakfasts and you could camp out by Mark & Rosanna's by the river / pond or in their non-renovated cabin.  :-)   Sorry ... Mark said he was willing to give up his waterbed, but Rosanna's not going for that. :-(
